How to find an Approved Intermediary
Debt Relief Orders can only be applied for via an approved intermediary. These intermediaries have been authorised as being able to assist and advise individuals on the completion of a DRO application. They are authorised by companies considered to be competent authorities. The list below lists the initial list of competent authories issued by the Insolvency Service, and able to help you find an approved intermediary:
Citizens Advice Bureaux

Institution of Money Advisers (IMA)
www.i-m-a.org.uk
Consumer Credit Counselling Service
www.cccs.co.uk
National Debtline

Baines & Ernst Ltd

Payplan Ltd

Don’t think that the approved intermediary is going to get rich from people paying £90 for a DRO. Government documents state that the approved intermediary will only receive up to £10 per application.
Considering the time that the intermediary may have to take to complete a set of DRO forms, a £10 payment isn’t much at all. The rest of the £90 payment will go to the Insolvency service.
I’ve tried getting one from the Citizens Advice in Newcastle - they’re just NOT interested. Anyone know about the other CAB’s in the country ??
