Massive response to Debt Relief Orders

Although none of the approved intermediaries have come and publicly with details on debt relief order uptake, anecdotal information seems to imply that they are all being inundated with applications, to the point that various internal systems crashed badly initially. This has meant that many people applying on, or slightly after the launch date have still to have their first appointment with their chosen intermediary.

Rummaging through various forums, we have found the following nuggets from various users. Bear in mind that these have not been verified with the intermediaries themselves.

Citizens Advice Bureaux
Estimated to be a 3 to 4 week backlog due to large numbers of applications.

Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS)
Delay of a few days, due to huge numbers of applications.

National Debtline
Applicants on 6 April are given appointments on 23rd April; huge numbers of applicants.

We haven’t found any information on the following three intermediaries: Institution of Money Advisers (IMA), Baines & Ernst Ltd and Payplan, but they are also likely to have been inundated by applications and requests for moreĀ  information.
